Edward Philip Miles, born on January 3, 1935, in Vandecar ON, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2023, at Woodstock Hospital, ON. His life was filled with an abundance of love, hard work, and a strong dedication to his family and community.
Edward grew up in the rural community of Vandecar and later relocated to the Eastwood, ON area, developing a love for the outdoors and a strong work ethic from a young age. As a young man, he took this passion for the land and turned it into a successful career as a dairy farmer and cash crop farmer. His dedication to his work was evident in the quality of his crops and the care he provided for his livestock. Edward was not only a respected member of the farming community, but also a beloved figure in his hometown.
Edward's interests were varied, and he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep love for hockey, and many will remember him cheering on his favourite team from the comfort of his living room. Hunting and fishing were other passions that he had, often spending his free time outdoors, enjoying the tranquility that nature provided. But above all, Edward's greatest love was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his family was his greatest source of joy and pride.
Edward was predeceased by his beloved wife, Donna Miles, who passed away in 2009. For the past decade, Edward found companionship and friendship in Emily Cain, who was his best friend and fiance along with her children Christine (Keith) Posser, Mike Cain, Doug (Christine) Cain, Ryan (Jenn) Cain and their families. Edward is survived by his children, David (Joanne) Miles, Nancy (Doug) Miles, and Brian (Anne) Miles. He was a wonderful father, always there to lend a helping hand or offer words of wisdom. His grandchildren, Jim; Chris, Ash, Cory (Candice); Garrett and Colton (Karmyn), brought him immense joy, and he loved spending time with them. Edward was also a proud great-grandfather to Cole, Hunter, Hannah, and Zyon. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
