Edward James Howe

With sadness, Ed’s family announces his peaceful passing at Woodstock Hospital on January 7, 2025 at the age of 80 years. Loving father of Jim Howe (Nicki), Debbie Aicken (Rick) and Aaron Howe. Proud grandfather of Mathew Sackrider (Lisa), Andrew Sackrider (Lyuba), Melissa Aicken (Daniel), Kelsey Howe (Logan) and Emma Howe (Trenton) and Great-Grandfather of Olivia, Lily, Nova and Leo. He will be fondly remembered by his wife and forever friend, Elizabeth “Liz” Howe. 

Born and raised in Hickson, Ed was one of 9 children born to the late Leonard Howe and Mary Pye. He is survived by his siblings Shirley Mitchell (Ken), Betty Bonney (Ken), Wayne Howe, Pat Yates (Mike) and Mary Szabo (Ernie). Predeceased by his brothers Tom and Bill, his sister Marie and by his sisters-in-law Rose and Shirley.

Ed was a Licensed Mechanic by trade, and spent the last 25 years of his career at the GM Warehouse in Woodstock. A classic car enthusiast, he had fond memories of his 57 Chevy. He was an avid volunteer, recognized for his 28 years of coaching with Woodstock Minor Hockey, as well as women’s fastball and men’s slow-pitch. Ed was a lover of animals of all kinds, and adored his Yorkies, Mr. Jingles and Miss Kate. 

Friends will be received on Monday, January 13, 2025 from 10am until 10:45am at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave. A service celebrating Ed’s life will take place in the funeral home chapel at 11am, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Happy’s Place, a local senior dog rescue that meant a lot to Ed. Donations by cheque can be mailed to:
