SMITH - At his residence on Tuesday July 15, 2008. Douglas Ross Smith of Embro in his 55th year. Cherished husband and best friend of Diane Smith (nee Craig). Devoted and much loved father of Colin and Kimberley Smith. Dear son of Jean Smith and her late husband Ross and son-in-law of Laverne and Doris Craig, all of Embro. Loved brother of Mary Zdzierak and her husband Henry of Woodstock, brother-in-law of Terry Craig and his wife Gwen of Woodstock, Debbie Baker and her husband Dave and Judy Hayward and her husband Scott, all of Embro. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his infant brother Robert Smith. Doug served as Captain of the Embro Fire Department for over 30 years, was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge - Thistle #250, was on the board of Stewards at Knox United Church in Embro and sat on the Embro Cemetery Board. Doug was owner/operator of his family run business; Zorra Highland Bus lines for over 40 years and is presently the manager of Elgie Bus Lines in London for the Embro and Woodstock area. Friends will be received at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Friday July 18, 2008 from 7-9 pm and again on Saturday July 19, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place at Knox United Church in Embro on Sunday at 2 pm with Rev. Judy Campbell officiating. Interment in the North Embro Cemetery.
