PHELPS- Peacefully at his residence on Saturday May 8, 2010. Douglas J. Phelps of Woodstock in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Dorothy R. Phelps (nee Martin). Dear father of Margaret Phelps of Woodstock, Elizabeth (Ron) Schueler of Cambridge and Charles "Chuck" (Kate) Phelps of Woodstock. Loved grandfather of Spencer Douglas and Madison Mary Rose. Dear brother of Jean (Alfred) Pinter of Norwich, Mary (Gord) Searles of Woodstock, Donna (Ralph) Coates of Alberta, Ruth Ann McDonald of Woodstock, Dorothy (Ray) Chapman of Nova Scotia and brother-in-law Don Batson of Newfoundland. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and by his special dog Jiggs. Predeceased by his parents Harry and Vera Phelps, sister Helen Batson, brothers Russell and Donald Phelps and by his brother-in-law Ernie McDonald. Doug coached minor hockey and baseball, was employed with Domtar for over 42 years, member of the Oxford Rifles Reserves and the Cameuse Retirement Group. Friends may call at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Tuesday May 11, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm where the funeral service will be held in the chapel Wednesday May 12, 2010 at 1:30 pm.
