Douglas Mervin Eaton

 Doug passed away after a brief illness, surrounded by his family, at Peoplecare Tavistock on Monday, February 3, 2025 at the age of 84. Beloved husband and best friend to Henny (nee Van Manen), with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Cherished Dad to Brian Eaton and Christine Bullock (Chris). Endlessly proud Grandpa to Brandon Eaton and Madelyn and Aaron Bullock. Dear brother to Norma (Gary) and Ray (late Diane) and the late Lois. He is also fondly remembered by Henny’s siblings that were like his own: Tony (Sharon), Kees (late Cecilia), Frank (Brenda) and John (Dianne), as well as his many nieces and nephews. Doug is predeceased by his parents, Mervin and Doris Eaton, and in-laws Anthonie and Geesje Van Manen (Henny’s parents), Mary (Chester), Cobie (Gerry), Jane (John) and Henk (Ike), Fransien, Willie and Gerrit. 

 Doug was a hard worker and a true family-man, and in his down-time, he loved the outdoors. He truly was a good person and a wise, kind man. He was a lifelong avid fisherman, hunter and golfer and enjoyed his time with his golfing friends at Craigowan. His days spent at the cottage and quiet times on the lake were cherished. Doug found his absolute joy over the past years with his grandchildren, and he could always be counted on to be on the sidelines proudly supporting them in their sports and activities. 

Friends will be received at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, on Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 2-4pm, and on Monday February 10 from 10am-10:45am. Funeral Service will take place in the funeral home chapel at 11am, with a reception to follow. Spring interment at Innerkip Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
