Douglas Murray Dolson, born in Brampton March 30, 1934 passed peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025 in the loving presence of his wife Opal, daughters Jude (Brian), Nancy (Errol), son Darcy (Brenda), and extended support of his granddaughter Naomi (Mark), his grandson Chris (Jo), great grandchildren Andrew (Leah), Philip (Allison), Hannah, Kate,Tyler, plus recent additions of great, great grandchildren. And can’t forget grandpuppy Clyde. Doug joins his special angel in heaven granddaughter Serenna, son Wayne, brothers - Morris, Raymond (Margaret), Gordon (Monica), Delmer, Ronnie, twin Doreen (Alex) and his mom and dad Alvin and Lulu Dolson. He will be missed by his sister Grace (George) and too many nieces and nephews to mention. It would, however, be remiss not to note that over his lifetime of almost 91 years, Doug’s love extended to many others who also called him Dad or Grandpa. (You know who you are.)
Doug worked in maintenance at Fisher Controls for 39 years before retiring, was a longtime member of the Faith Community Church, and in his younger years was well known in the Woodstock area for offering his help with anything that required farming, automobile, lawn care, tools, snowblowing or other general handyman expertise. He was most happy to share his love of dancing, camping, cars and anything that runs on a motor with any and all who would join him.
Love, faith, family and extended community will continue to be Doug’s shared legacy with Opal, his beloved wife of 67 years. Doug’s family would like to thank the wonderful PSW, nurses, doctors, and volunteers who assisted him over the past several years including those at Care Partners, Bayshore, South West Alzheimers Association, Oxford Community Paramedics and especially the staff at Woodingford Lodge and Lakewood in particular. A private gathering will send Doug off on his next journey with our ‘till we meet again’ wishes and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later, yet to be determined, date. Any and all expressions of condolence in the form of a donation to the South West Alzheimers Association or Faith Community Church are appreciated.
