June 10, 1927 — April 27, 2024

BARBER, Dorothy May (Hart)

Of Woodstock, passed away peacefully at Woodstock General Hospital on April 27, 2024 in her 97th year.  Now reunited with Cecil, her soul-mate and husband of 74 years (October 8, 2023).

Loving mother of Gail (Larry) Janus and Gary Barber. Grandmother to Glen Barber (Sarah) and great grandmother to June Barber.  Predeceased by siblings Bill, Alice, Charlie, Rose and Russell.

Born on June 10, 1927 in Paris, Ontario to William and Constance Rose Hart (Breden).  Dorothy married the love of her life, Cecil in 1949. They were inseparable and have wonderful memories of their many travels across Canada, to the east and west coasts, to the Northwest Territories and Artic Ocean (Inuvik). They especially enjoyed their travel trailer and the annual fall colors in Arrowhead Park, Huntsville and Algonquin Park for over 35 years.

Dorothy worked as office manager at Sears in Woodstock before leaving to raise her children. She loved animals and birds, and was a wealth of information about many species, their habits, songs and tracks. She especially loved wolves and anything related to them.   The family gratefully acknowledges the kindness and care provided by the staff at Chartwell Oxford Gardens Retirement Residence.
