Doris Elizabeth (Caissie) Fallowfield

April 29, 1935 — July 25, 2024

Doris Elizabeth Fallowfield (née Caissie), passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 25, 2024 at Sakura House in Woodstock, ON. Born on April 29, 1935, in the family farmhouse in Rollingdam, New Brunswick, daughter to the late Fred and Elizabeth Caissie.

Doris was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Fallowfield (2016). She is survived by her son Roger Brewer (Ev), her daughters Deborah Brewer and Sandra Crozier (Brian), and her stepdaughter Jacqueline Dukes (Danny), 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Doris will be especially missed by her beloved twin sister Dorothy Gayton, and her nephew and friend, Ken Chalmers.

She has joined in eternal rest her siblings Shirley, Fred, Ronnie, and Roger, along with her twin sons Carl Brewer (2017) and Wayne Brewer (2011), her grandson Michael Brewer (2012) and her stepsons Terry Fallowfield (2024) and Brad Fallowfield (2016).

Mom’s life was one of unwavering love for her family and friends.

During their 49 years together, she and Don hosted many happy gatherings at their Bayfield cottage. Their winters in Panama City Beach provided much opportunity for all things fun, including golf and shuffleboard, and they had a reputation for being pretty smooth on the dance floor.

Mom was a skilled drapery maker and a talented seamstress. Even in recent years, her sewing machine was on the ready to alter and create for family and friends. While mom always claimed it was too hot in the kitchen, she prepared countless meals over the years for large family gatherings, where laughter and love were the main ingredients. Admittedly, she looked forward to that four o'clock "red one" to get her through the day.

Those who knew mom will remember her playful spirit, her kind heart and her warm smile. She was well known for her competitive nature and love of games (cribbage in particular). Truth be known, she delighted in taking anybody’s money.

Mom’s memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories and the laughter of her family, and the countless lives she touched. While she was a person of few words, her legacy is one of enduring love, a testament to a life well-lived and a woman well-loved.

Special thanks to her dear friends at Chieftain:  Mary, John, Ken, Kelly and Jan, and Rick and Bonnie who steadfastly supported mom as her memory faded and her health deteriorated. We feel especially blessed for the kind and caring staff at Woodstock Hospital and Sakura House whose compassion and respect during mom's transition went above and beyond, and to Dr. Sondhi and the Palliative Care Team whose timely response and care were exceptional.

A celebration of mom’s life will take place on Wednesday, July 31 from 2-4pm at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock.  Private family interment at Huntingford Christ Church Cemetery will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in mom's memory to Sakura House, Woodstock Hospital, or charity of one’s choice would be much appreciated.
