Donald Edwin Wettlaufer

Donald Edwin Wettlaufer, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024, at Caressant Care. Born on August 11, 1945, in Woodstock, Ontario, Don's life was marked by his jovial spirit and love for his family.

Don's early years in Woodstock were filled with the warmth of a close-knit community and the bonds of a loving family. He carried these values throughout his life, creating a home filled with laughter and love. On November 5, 1965, he married the love of his life, Sharon Wettlaufer (nee Pearson)(2014).

A devoted father, Don was immensely proud of his children, Donnie (Jaqueline) Wettlaufer and the late Sherry Wettlaufer. His role as a grandfather to Ashley, Amberlee (Will), Brandi (Herman), Tara, and Dwight (Shanice), and as a great-grandfather to ten great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Don will be missed by his sisters Diane Mingo and Karen (Harry) Wilson. He is Predeceased by his parents Lynn and Pearl Wettlaufer, siblings Frank Wettlaufer and Shirley Bowman, and brother-in-law and childhood best friend, Eric Mingo. His special niece, April Fawcett, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members, will remember Don for his warmth and his generosity.

Beyond his family, Don had a profound impact on the community through his work as a school bus driver. He cherished every moment with the children he drove. His love for stock car racing was more than a hobby.

He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of his loved ones.

In keeping with Don’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be taking place in the coming days.
