Hart, Donald Wallace On August 18, 2014 at Sakura House, Woodstock. Born November 13, 1929 in Woodstock Ontario. Son of the late Douglas Hamilton Hart and Alexandra Victoria Hoard. Younger brother of Marion Conn and Isobel Davey. Beloved husband of Donna. Father of Sue (Kevin Dolan), Doug (Sue), Heather (David Tolton), Bob (Shannon), and Marnie. Loving and proud grandfather of Callum Dolan, Andrew Dolan, Iain Dolan, Rebecca Hart, Maggie Hart, Wes Hart, Kelly Hart, Ben Tolton, Matt Tolton, Cameron Tolton, Sandy Hart, Morgan Hart, Dufferin Hart, Michael Crawford, Daniel Crawford, and their spouses, partners and special friends. Predeceased by grandson Peter Crawford. Don was a lifelong resident of Oxford County and an active participant in many community organizations, including the Woodstock Rotary Club, the YMCA Board of Directors, Fanshawe College Board of Directors, Probus, Woodstock Fair Board, Oxford Soil and Crop Association, Oxford County Cattleman's Association, Ontario Grain Council, Woodstock General Hospital Board of Directors (1984-1995) and the Woodstock General Hospital Foundation. He was recipient of numerous awards including the Rotary Service Above Self Award, a Paul Harris Fellow 1984, and the Oxford County Land Saver Award. Don established many treasured lifelong friendships with fellow Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) '53 graduates. He was an active member of the church communities of Chalmers United Church and St. David's United Church in Woodstock. Don loved the land and was proud to have been the fourth generation in his family to farm in Oxford County. In the years following his retirement from active farming, Don became a skilled furniture and cabinet maker as well as a restorer of antique furniture. Local history and family genealogy were areas of great interest and Don devoted many hours to research of these topics. When asked, Don would readily tell you he'd had a good life. His proudest accomplishment was his family and the values he helped establish in its members through his very fine example. He will be fondly remembered by many. A funeral service will be held t 11:00 am on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at St David's United Church, 190 Springbank Avenue, Woodstock, ON N4S 7R1. In lieu of flowers, donations to Sakura House Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
