Donald Edward Dorken

August 1, 1929 — September 20, 2020

DORKEN, Donald Edward. - Passed away peacefully on Sunday September 20th 2020 at the Woodstock Hospital in his 92nd year.  Beloved husband of the late Mary Isabelle Dorken (Corkish) (2010). Father to Terry (Linda) Dorken, Cathy Pye  (Bruce) and the late Lance Dorken (2020)  (Deborah). Brother to Ray (Dora) Dorken. Loving Grandfather to Lindsay, Ashley, Nick, Travis, Jamie and Michael. Proud Great Grandfather to Owen, Grace, Blaire and Parker. Don was a Firefighter with the Woodstock Fire Department for 30 years retiring as a lieutenant. He enjoyed years of negotiating for the Union with the Fire Department. Don was an avid golfer enjoying many years with his friends teeing up at the first hole at the crack of dawn. He enjoyed watching football and the Blue Jays. Don was an avid reader for many years. He lived on his own at 92 Fairview Cres. in Woodstock until he was over 90 years old and he always kept up with his crosswords right up to his final days. He loved his family and friends and I’m sure many will recall his warm welcome into his home to enjoy some conversation, a couple beers and lots of laughs. Don was a gem and we will love him forever. Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of his life will take place at a later date.   If desired, memorial contributions to the Salvation Army or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock (519-539-0004). Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed online at www.brockandvisser.com
