SUTHERLAND, Deb Life can turn on a dime, and it surely did for Deb Sutherland (Debbie Wilson). Born September 21, 1957 in Woodstock Ontario and lived life with gusto until July17, 2017 at Woodstock Hospital Palliative Care. Deb shared her life with her best friend of 15 years, Greg Tonkin. She was blessed with three beautiful children, Kelly Almeida (John) Corey Sutherland (Bonnie) and Hillary Desmond (Dan). She also opened her heart to her 'other daughter' Christina Tonkin. Life became richer with the addition of 3 adored grandsons, Collin and Henry Desmond and Johnny Almeida. Deb's adored mother, Marg Wilson Sutton Cooper (deceased 2005) and much loved father, Robert Wilson of Owen Sound, always insisted that their three kids got along, because "no one will ever know and love you like your brother and sister". That was a lesson she honoured all her life along with her brother, Bob Wilson (Lynda) of Scotland Ontario and her sister Marlene Fewster (Al) of Woodstock Ontario. Deb's family circle expanded many years ago to fondly include her Dad's wife Laila Wilson of Owen Sound and her step-brothers Paul Wilson (Stephanie) Owen Sound and Martin Wilson (Leeanne) Kitchener and step-sister Laurie (Skip) Jones of Nashville Tennessee. Although born and raised in Ontario, Deb was very proud of her Cape Breton roots and of being one of 70 grandchildren in her large, loving Lewis family. 'Aunt Deb' will always be remembered with a giggle by her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In the end she wanted to do this her way! She was a self described control freak. She dictated her obituary and planned her funeral with dignity, grace and humour. In Deb's words: Do it now...don't wait for that perfect moment because that moment may never show up and when it does it may not last very long. When you think of me remember my laugh, because it's what I loved best in life. Laughter may not be a cure but it certainly helps. Thank you to all my enormous circle of friends and family for all of your love and support. Without all of you my life would have been long, lonely and boring as hell! Whether you are sitting around a campfire, stuck in traffic or pursuing that elusive hole in one... kick back, have a beverage of your choice, toast my memory and laugh! Friends may visit with the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Thursday July 20th 2017 from 7-9 pm where the complete funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday July 21st 2017 at 1:30 pm.
