PEAT - At Woodstock General Hospital, David Alexander Peat passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 after a long and blessed life lived in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Clara Isabella (Skillings) Peat (1982). Dear father of the late Carolyn Isabella Peat (2000), Sandra Marie Peat (1971), and Andrew Peat of London. Son of the late Wallace (1964) and Jean (Arnott) Peat (1982), who raised their family on the Peat family farm in Ratho. Loved brother of Marion (Peat) Leonard of Port Elgin, and Lorne (Shirley) Peat of Ratho. Predeceased by his sister Charlotte Robinson (2005), and brother in law Charles Leonard (1981). David will be sadly missed by his friend Anne Mason of Woodstock, who was a dear friend to him over the last 20 years, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. David grew up in Ratho working on the family farm during the early years of his life. After he married Isabel, they moved to Innerkip and David worked for Currah Feed Company and New Life Mills for 30 years. Following his retirement, he took up the game of golf and enjoyed travelling and dancing with his friend Anne. David was also a long time member of the Masonic Lodge Oak Branch #261, Innerkip. The staff at Park Place Retirement Home were very good to David for the past 3 years that he lived there. Friends will be received at the Longworth Funeral Home 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock 519-539-0004 on Sunday, March 21st from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The service will be held at Innerkip Presbyterian Church on Monday, March 22nd at 2:00 pm. Interment later in the Innerkip cemetery.
