VONDERVOORT, Cornelis Wilhelmus
Cornelis W. Vondervoort, known affectionately as Case, passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2023, in Woodstock, Ontario, at the age of 93. Born on March 13th, 1930, in Oirschot, Netherlands, Case was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Case is survived by his devoted wife, Cornelia (Corrie) Vondervoort, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring love story. Together, they raised a close-knit family including their children Adrian (Debbie), Carl (Lisa), and Paul (Sandra), as well as their daughter-in-law Michelle. Case was predeceased by his daughter Cathy and son David, who will undoubtedly have welcomed him with open arms in the hereafter.
As the proud patriarch of a large and loving family, Case cherished his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves behind ten grandchildren: Ashley (Matt), Ryan (Sara), Chelsea (Mike), Kelly (Mike), Bryce (Ally), Alex (Jaymie), Corrine (Julian), Katie, Emma (Max), and Heather (Nick). In addition, Case was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and laughter to his life. Case is also survived by his brother Leo Vondervoort, numerous nieces and nephews, and a community of brothers and sisters in Holland.
Case's journey began in the Netherlands, where he started farming at the young age of 14. He immigrated to Oxford County in 1958 in search of a brighter future and new opportunities. As a dedicated and hardworking dairy farmer since 1966, Case cultivated a legacy of perseverance and determination. His strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to his family and farm were truly inspiring.
An avid reader, Case possessed an insatiable curiosity and hunger for knowledge. He was eager to share his wisdom with others and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His handy and resourceful nature was admired by all who knew him, and he could often be found tinkering with a project or fixing a broken item around the farm.
Case's faith-filled life was a testament to his courage and resilience. He faced numerous challenges and hardships throughout his life but emerged stronger and more steadfast in his beliefs. His unwavering faith in God provided him with strength and solace during difficult times, and he was a shining example of grace and humility to his family and friends.
A proud member of the Dutch Canadian Club and Innerkip Bowling Club, Case was deeply involved in his community and enjoyed forging connections with others who shared his passions. He was a dedicated and loyal friend who could always be counted on for a good laugh, a listening ear, or a shoulder to lean on. His warm and welcoming nature made him a beloved figure in his community, and his absence will be profoundly felt.
In his later years, Case enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He took great delight in spending time with his family, tending to his gardens, and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and flourish. His love for his family knew no bounds, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments.
Case Vondervoort will be remembered as a faith-filled, handy, and courageous man who left an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on in the hearts and minds of his family, friends, and community.
As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we take solace in the knowledge that Case's light will continue to shine through the love and memories he left behind. His legacy will live on in the generations to come, and his spirit will forever be a guiding force for those who loved him. Rest in peace, dear Case, knowing that you are loved and cherished beyond measure.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Case at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish 1420 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock on Friday April 14th 2023 at 11:00 am. A reception will follow. A private family interment will take place later at Innerkip Cemetery.
