MACLEAN, Christine Anne
It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who passed away suddenly but peacefully at home on March 24, 2025, at the age of 70. Cherished wife of Claude Carriere for 37 years. Loving mother of Stephanie (Franz) and Alex. As well as a loving stepmother of Dennis Carriere and Andy Carriere (Melissa). Proud grandmother of Kayla, Brittany, Rylee, Chloe, Emma and Jay. Dear sister of Colleen Fitzgerald, Maureen Wervers, Ronnie Fitgerald, Linda McLeod (John), and Shawn Fitzgerald. Christine will also be fondly remembered by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Christine was predeceased by her parents Ronald and Marielle Fitzgerald as well as her oldest brother Kevin, and her youngest sister Cathy.
In life, Christine spent the last 5 years retired, and the previous 40+ years as a Property Manager of condominiums in Toronto. She was excellent at her job and was always well liked by coworkers and the residents she worked for. She was diligent, compassionate, and educated. Christine's home life however was her favorite place to be. Christine loved her family and loved the time she was able to spend with them when she wasn't working. Her partner, her children and her grandchildren were always talked about with love and fondness, and she especially loved Christmas and family dinners. Most of the time she was the life of the party; her laughter was contagious. Christine had a magnetic personality. People were drawn to her empathy and compassion, as well as her strength. She had a way about her that made people want to go out of their way to help her. She loved watching movies, especially old ones, and listening to her music. Before she became sick she was a lover of loud music, singing and dancing and lazy Sunday drives. Christine had a love for life and loved her family with her whole heart. She was a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, an aunt, a cousin and a friend; and each relationship was of the most importance to her, even before herself. Christine battled many battles in her life that made her the strong woman she became, but her final opponent of COPD was too strong for her. Christine fought with poise and grace until she lost her battle; peacefully in her home, in her sleep, the exact way she wanted.
In keeping with Christine’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. Donations in memory of Christine can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation https://www.heartandstroke.ca/, or The Cancer Society https://cancer.ca/en/contact-us
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the Palliative care team from Home and Community Care Support Services, and an extended thanks to her PSW's, who loved her and took care of many of her needs like she was family. Christine was thankful, and so are we.
