Christiaan "Chris" Houthuyzen

HOUTHUYZEN, Christiaan "Chris" - Went into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, July 8th, 2018 at the Woodstock Hospital in his 85th year just in time to be the organist in heaven. Chris immigrated from Holland in 1958 with his beautiful bride to fulfill his life calling as a craftsman of the great pipe organ. He founded the Principal Pipe Organ Company in Woodstock, Ontario and many of his precious organs give testament to his passion all over Ontario. Chris served as organist to many churches. His music will forever be in our hearts and souls. He also spent many years installing carillons and clock towers, for the Verdin company. His great pride was the restoration and servicing of the carillon in the Peace Tower in Ottawa. Chris's work will continue to bless generations to come. Loving husband and best friend of Anne Houthuyzen (nee Rietkerk) for nearly 61 years. Cherished father of Conny Masson (Harvey), Ernie Houthuyzen (Joanne) Tim Houthuyzen, Stephanie Allen (Andrew), and Anne-Monique "Nicki" Howe (Jim). Beloved grandfather of Joshua (Denise), Tiffany (Darren), Cody (Rachelle), Christine, Erin (Steve), Jonathan (Stacey), Annette, David (Melanie), Ben, Alexis, Noah, Sophie, Kelsey and Emma. Proud great grandfather of eight. Dear brother of Robert Huyzen (Mary), Corry Flipse, and Anne Houthuyzen (late Ernest). Brother-in-law to Dini DeBeer (Tim) and Jean Rietkerk (late Dick). Survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Many thanks to the team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, VON, CCAC and palliative care team. Family and friends may visit with family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004), on Friday July 27th 2018 from 6-8 pm and on Saturday July 28, 2018 from 10-11 am where the funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday July 28th 2018 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow with a private family interment at Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions to Woodstock Hospital would be appreciated.
