Charles Tait Profile Photo
TAIT, Charles - Charles, in his 91st year, drifted away while in Woodstock Hospital, under the careful watch of his family, over whom he was so attentive for 68 years of marriage. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Norma Elizabeth (nee Hallock), his sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Bonnie (McGregor) of St. Thomas and Stephen and Debra (Robar) of Ingersoll. Cherished grandfather of Sarah Tait (Dave Jones) , Geoffrey Tait (Megan), Amber Spence (Geoffrey) , Dennis Tait, Monica Tait, and great grandfather of Ewan, Rory and Max Spence. Also survived by his brother-in-law Wes (Lorna) Hallock. Predeceased by his parents David and Jane Tait (Lumsden) and his brother George (Anna) Tait. He was "Uncle Chuck" to many others. The nurture of Kit and Jean Lumsden and family during Charles' early life in the gore will never be forgotten. He was quietly proud of his naval service in WWII. His many friends at Commercial Print Craft inspired his working career for 46 years. He generously shared his life lessons with the people of Woodstock through Sunbeams, Oxford Baptist Church, Oxfordaires Quartet and over CKOX Radio as the voice of "Eventide". In retirement, Charles travelled with Norma and attended Learning Unlimited. He walked many miles with golfing buddies and always loved listening for the songs of nature to which he stepped in rhythm. It takes great neighbours to be able to live in your home until you are 90, and the family thanks you all for your generosity. We have all lost a loving companion. The trees, and the birds that decorate them, have lost a faithful friend. Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Wednesday May 21st , 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel Thursday May 22nd at 11 am. Interment in the Innerkip Cemetery. If desired, contributions to Oxford Baptist Church, Woodstock Hospital or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated. Online condolences at www.brockandvisser.com
