Charles Alexander Van Ostaeyen

July 17, 1961 — December 19, 2023

Charlie passed away peacefully at University Hospital, London, Ontario, in his 63rd year on December 19, 2023. Born on July 17, 1961, Charlie was the cherished son of Joseph Van Ostaeyen and was predeceased by his devoted mother, Maria, in 2021. Loving brother to Rita Warren (George), John (Evelyn), the late Frank (July 2023) (Nancy), Bernadette Turpin (Rick), Marilyn Greer (George), Anita Lange (Gary). Charlie's legacy will live on through his adoring nieces and nephews: Lindsay (Kevin), Matt (Stephanie), Erin (Andrew), Megan (Chris), Nicole (Tony), Christie, Kelsey (Brandon), Jeremy (Erin), Tyler (Kierstin), Jaclyn (Chad), Dan (Shannon), Kendra (Kalen), Erika (Kyle), Colin (Meghan), and Ivan (Abbie), along with 23 great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by nieces Tanya (1989) and Katie (2005). Charlie's large extended family in Belgium, who shared his life journey, will also hold his memory dear.

A dairy farmer before his life changing car accident in 1992, was well known in the community of Zorra Township. He taught us through his sense of humour that the small things in life are really the big things that matter.  Thank you to ALL staff at Mount Hope Long Term Care for their exceptional care since 1997, also to University Hospital, 4th Floor medical staff for their care in the recent weeks.  Special thanks to Thelma, Olga, Gloria, Perry and many others over the years, who provided him with excellent care and companionship. Thank you to the many residents who became Charlie’s friends at Mount Hope, who will miss his presence.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday December 23, 2023, at 11 am in the chapel, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life in the Tribute Lounge at Brock and Visser Funeral (845 Devonshire Ave. Woodstock 519-539-0004).  Inurnment will take place at North Embro Cemetery. If you so desire, donations to MADD or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Share a memory at www.brockandvisser.com
