Catherine Lynnette Douglas, affectionately known as Lenny, was a beacon of light and love who touched the lives of all who knew her. Born on December 30, 1962, in Montreal, Quebec, Lenny's vibrant spirit and boundless energy were evident from the very beginning. Her journey on this earth may have come to a close on May 29, 2023, in Mossley, Ontario, but her legacy of selflessness, courage, and love will continue to inspire those left behind.
Lenny's educational journey began at College Avenue Secondary School, where she discovered her passion for art, drawing, and ceramics. She carried these passions with her throughout her life, often gifting her loved ones with beautiful, handmade creations that showcased her remarkable talent. Lenny's artistic prowess was not limited to the visual arts, as she was also a master in the culinary realm. Her love for baking and cooking brought people together, filling their bellies with warmth and their hearts with joy.
Professionally, Lenny was a powerhouse. She spent almost twenty years working at Vuteq as a Training Team Leader, where she was known for her dedication and expertise. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open her own restaurant, bringing delicious food and a sense of community to those who entered its doors. Lenny also served as a Sales Rep for Greenline Resins, showcasing her ability to excel in a variety of fields.
Despite her professional accomplishments, Lenny's true calling in life was her family. She was a proud and loving mother to her two sons, Matthew and Jordan Dickert. Her love extended to her daughters-in-law, Beth and Brittany, whom she welcomed into the family with open arms. Lenny's role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, showering Savannah, Braxton, Claire, and Brooklyn with love and affection. Her sister, Verity Veltman, was a constant source of support and friendship throughout her life.
Lenny was a fiercely devoted "soccer mom," always cheering on her sons from the sidelines and supporting their various endeavors. As her family grew, she continued to be a pillar of strength and encouragement, never missing an opportunity to be present in their lives. Her laughter, wisdom, and nurturing spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren.
In her free time, Lenny enjoyed Hallmark movies, a guilty pleasure that brought her comfort and relaxation. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing with them, and watching them grow. These simple moments brought her immense joy and were a testament to her unwavering love for her family.
Lenny's life was a shining example of selflessness, courage, and love. She faced every challenge with determination and grace, never backing down from adversity. Her strength was a guiding force for those around her, inspiring them to face their own battles with courage and resilience. In moments of darkness, Lenny's light shone brightly, providing hope and comfort to those who needed it most.
As we celebrate Lenny's life, let us remember the impact she had on each and every one of us. Her legacy of love, strength, and selflessness will live on in our hearts, guiding us to be better versions of ourselves. In honoring her memory, let us strive to embody the qualities she exemplified and cherish the time we were fortunate enough to share with her.
