Carl Edward Moore

Moore, Carl Edward 1944-2022: On December 18, Carl Edward Moore passed away at the age of 78 years. Following a lengthy battle with cancer, Carl died peacefully at Sakura House in Woodstock, Ontario, surrounded by his family.
Forever remembered by his wife Sharon Hart; his family: Carla (Darryl), Sean (Petra), Craig, Margaret (Shawn), Krista (David) and Valerie (Dale); eleven grandchildren: Kya, Matthew, Summer, Tasia, Ava, Julia, Kara, Kade, Leonard, Allison and Wolfgang; and sister, Lorna Dorrington (John), and sisters-in-law, Dorothy McCuaig (Gary) and Mary Carroll, as well as relatives and friends. He was predeceased by parents, Thomas and Estella Moore (née Bell).
Carl graduated from University of Guelph in 1967 with a Masters degree in Crop Science. First and foremost a farmer, Carl dedicated his professional life to the agricultural sector. His career included chairing Ontario Pork Producers Marketing Board, acting as first Vice-President of the Canadian Pork Council, and consulting with family farms over a period of 50 years.
Carl was passionate about travelling, pets, gardening and spending time with family. He travelled extensively (preferably somewhere warm) and enjoyed cottage-life each summer. At home, he could often be found with his dog Ruby or planting and harvesting his gardens and orchards. He met people easily and remembered their names by memorizing where they were born. His family was a great source of joy and he shared his pride in the Christmas letter he wrote each year.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Lauren Scherpenzeel and the many doctors and health care professionals involved in his care. A special thank you to Dr. Sondhi and the staff at Sakura House for their care and compassion. An informal gathering to celebrate Carl’s life will be held on December 22, 2022 from 1-5pm at Embro Community Centre (355644 35th Line, Embro, Ontario, N0J 1J0).
