BURGESS, Carl - It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Carl Burgess announces his passing on the eve of September 28, 2016. After a head injury on September 11th, Carl fought hard in University Hospital, London, and on September 27th he was moved to Sakura House, Woodstock, where family and friends visited and where he took his last breaths with family members by his side. Carl was in his 74th year. "Carlos" will be remembered by many as he touched numerous hearts with his craftsmanship through music and food. Whether he was ripping out a solo on his B3 or adding final touches to a 7-tiered wedding cake, or sharing and preparing strudel or an 8-course meal, Carl was a true artist and brought heart to everything he did. The Burgess Trio will sadly miss their brother as Connie Vollmershausen and Sheran Ripski face the future without him. Brother-in-law, Doug Vollmershausen was always a welcome addition to the trio. Carl's music influenced many family members as well and he will be not forgotten by niece Betty Ford, great-niece Desiree Ford, and great-nephews Nick and Trav (Kasey) Dorken. Other family members include nephews Brian and Larry Vollmershausen, Jason Ripski, and nieces Kelly Hurley and Robin Ripski, as well as many great-great nieces and nephews. Carl's many friends ranging from the world of music to food will miss the laughs and precious moments he always strived to create. Donations to Sakura House in Carl's memory would be greatly appreciated and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock, 519-539-0004. A Memorial Celebration will take place November 26, 2016 at the Innerkip Community Centre beginning at 4pm. Those wishing to attend please R.S.V.P. to Betty Ford at 519-290-2780
