It is with heavy hearts that the family of Calum "Cal" Michie announce his passing on Sunday August 13, 2023 at the age of 70. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a short but difficult battle with ALS. He will be forever missed by his loving wife Lesley. He was fiercely proud of his daughter Caitria (Andrew) and son Alex (Hannah). He is survived by his sister Rona (Danny). He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Anna, as well as his sister Jan. Fondly remembered by his sister in laws Ann (David) and Shernaz (Andrew). He will be also missed by several nieces and nephews. Although of Scottish descent, Cal was born in Uruguay and lived all throughout South America and the Caribbean before finally immigrating to Canada for school, where he studied at Bishop's University in Quebec. He started his career in banking after university and spent 42 years with the Royal Bank which included travelling all over the world before finally settling back in Canada. Cal spent countless hours maintaining his beautiful flower gardens in the summertime and also enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Lake Erie. He loved going for long walks with his faithful companion Tucker, who was always by his side. He was a lifelong sports fan and was also involved in minor sports in Woodstock for many years. He loved the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs and European football. The family would like to thank Dr. Karen Fryer, Dr. Jitin Sondhi, the Oxford County Palliative Care Outreach Team, and the Oxford County Paramedics for their compassionate care during such a difficult time. They would also like to thank Dr. Jeff Nichols for always being there for them over the years. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Sakura House in Woodstock.
