Bruce Alonzo Otis

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Bruce Alonzo Otis, peacefully with his loving family by his side at Kingsway Lodge, St. Mary's on Friday, June 30, 2023 at the age of 92. Bruce is survived by his loving wife Marlene of 34 years. Beloved daughters Kim (Peter) Tipping, the late Carol Lee Mackay (2020) and step-daughter Julie Wraith; adored grand-daughters Cassandra Tipping (Andrew Shantz), Sarah (Tyler) Gvora, Jennifer (Josh) Panton, and Lindsey (Aaron) Akins; great- grandchildren Brooklyn, Brinley, Maverick, Aiden, Cayson and Cooper. Bruce is predeceased by his parents Ethel and Alonzo Otis, brothers Bill and Howard Otis, sister Bernice Nichols, and his first wife Shirley Jones (Otis). He was born and raised in Beaconsfield, Burgessville and built the garage on Governor's Road in the late 1950's, then moving to run Otis Autobody in Ingersoll in the early 1970's. He was the last living family member of the Otis clan. Bruce had a love for music, guitars, old cars, fixing them and anything car related. He had the gift to gab, loved to talk and tell stories about days of young and old. He lived a long and beautiful life and he will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Special thanks to the amazing and caring staff at Kingsway Lodge in St. Mary's who took such wonderful care of Bruce since 2020. He loved all of his nurses and staff, but was especially close to Molly who shared her love of music with Bruce. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Avenue Woodstock, ON (519-539-0004) with service to follow in the chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment in Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations to Kingsway Lodge in St. Mary's or to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
