CHANCE, Bruce Norman - Of Woodstock, passed away peacefully at LaPointe-Fisher Nursing Home in Guelph April 4, 2008, two days after his 82nd birthday. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Maureen, in 1992. Much-loved father of David of Orillia and Barbara of Guelph. Dear grandfather of Damian and Dana of Woodstock. Predeceased by seven brothers and sisters. Bruce served in the RCAF during the Second World War and spent much of his working life in the dairy business (thanks, Dad, for the strong bones we've got from drinking all that milk). A former president of Rochdale Credit Union, a longtime active member of All Saints Church and president of the LaPointe-Fisher Residents' Council, Bruce led a life of integrity to the end. Some of his greatest joys in his later days on Simcoe Street came from wielding his snow blower through the neighbourhood, building wooden clothes horses by the dozens, befriending stray cats and spending time with Hannah, Abbey and Sue. Friends will be received at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004), Tuesday, April 8, 2008, from noon to 1 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m. Special thanks to the staff at LaPointe-Fisher and Dr. Charles Reed for their kindness, care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the World Society for the Protection of Animals would be appreciated.
