Mackay, Brenda Lee - On Saturday Sept. 16, 2006 in her 50th year after a very long illness with her dedicated and loving family at her side. Loving wife and best friend of 34 years of Alan "Al" Mackay. Beloved and cherished mother of Ginger Mackay and Trevor McFarlane, Clayton Mackay and Sherry McLeod and Crystal Mackay all of Woodstock. Dear sister of Nancy Bradley and Greg Putland of Drumbo. Daughter of the late Marjorie and step-father John Hague. Lifetime friend of Jean German and the late Fred German. Daughter-in-law of Andrew Mackay and the late Gladys Mackay of RR# 3, Woodstock. Dear sister-in-law to Lawrence and Donna Mackay of Woodstock, Avery Mackay of Surrey, B.C., Murray Mackay (deceased), Ian and Linda Mackay, Barry and Jill Mackay all of Woodstock. David and Cathleen Mackay of New Durham and Margaret Mackay of Brandon, Manitoba. Loving Gramma, Teacher and Mentor of Kayla, Ashley, Dylan, Jonathan, Cody, Connor and Julia. Will be sadly missed by her dear pets Rat, Runt, Shasta and good old Buzz. Survived by her several nieces and nephews. Brenda worked for several years at the Oxford Drive-In Theatre and the Capitol Theatre in Woodstock as Manager and Projectionist. She was a very competitive horseshoe pitcher and was a member of "Horseshoe Ontario" where she was an avid supporter and promoter of women and youth horseshoe pitching. Also a member of the Woodstock Moose Family Centre 1141. Brenda also was the first woman to qualify for the Grand Thrill Show Production Demolition Derby held in Simcoe for which she was awarded a special trophy for this achievement. Many thanks to her family and friends for all the precious minutes, hours, days, weeks and months of visits and time spent in Brenda's long illness. A Moose Family service will be held at the Centre on Thursday at 4 pm.
