Brenda Lee (Clarke) Duncan

DUNCAN, Brenda Lee - Suddenly leaving us on Tuesday, January 11th, 2011, Brenda Lee Duncan passed away, and is now safely Home in the arms of Jesus. Brenda was for 27 years the precious wife of Rev. David Duncan and the beloved mother of Shawna and her husband Adam Ricci, and Heather, all of Woodstock. She was the cherished daughter of Rev. Morley and Trudie Clarke of London. She was deeply loved by her brother Grant and his wife Jane, of Dahlonega, Georgia, by her brother Stephen and his wife Dorothy of London, and by her sister Nancy and her husband Murray Lahn of Scarborough. She was beloved by her mother-in-law Ruth (Duncan) Gooding and her husband Vern of Stratford, and by her brother-in-law Jeff Duncan and his wife Cheryl of Calgary. She will be sorely missed by her many nieces and nephews, by loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and by all whose lives touched hers. Brenda was a born nurturer, and this characteristic pervaded all her relationships with her family, her many friends, and co-workers in her professional life as a member of the Children's Health Team within the Southwest Community Care Access Centre (CCAC). Brenda was a perfect help-mate for her husband, supporting his witness to Jesus Christ as they ministered to the three Pastoral Charges of Oil City- Rosedale- Oil Springs, Epworth in Kingsville, and College Avenue in Woodstock. Her sunny disposition lit up any room she entered, and her infectious laughter was a delight. She had a deep love of nature and all its beauty. She was a multi-talented person, bringing creativity and expertise to any task she undertook -- be it music, homemaking, organization, or leadership. She enriched us all. Friends will be received at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Avenue in Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Saturday, January 29, 1 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A service to celebrate Brenda's life will be held on Sunday, January 30, at 3:30pm in the Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 735 Frontenac Crescent, Woodstock. Cremation has taken place, and the interment will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in London at a later date. As expressions of tribute, donations may be made to College Avenue United Church, to Compassion Canada, or to the Southwest Community Care Access Centre.
