Betty Marguerite Oenema, a cherished mother, nana, great-nana, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024, at Woodstock Hospital. Born on January 25, 1934, in Somerville, ON, Betty lived a full and vibrant life marked by her unwavering faith, love for her family, and her creative spirit.
She was a lifelong member of the Church, where she was known for her steadfast belief and dedication to serving the Lord. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges and joys.
Throughout her life, Betty was a beacon of love and support to her family. She is survived by her loving children, Terry (Connie), Howard (Lynne), Shelley (Ron) Bowker, and Lisa (Robert) Jones. Betty took immense pride in her role as a nana to Joshua (Kevin), Leah, Jeremy, Breanna, Lyndsay (Andrew), Evan (Rebecca), Brandon (Treena), Caleb (Samantha), Emily, and Benjamin. Her legacy continues to flourish through her great-grandchildren, Landon, Isaiah, Eloise, Jayden, and Bennett. She also leaves behind her brother, David (Sandra) Hussey, Brian McIntyre (Laurel), Murray McIntyre, and sister-in-law, Louise Hussey, along with several cherished nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents, Howard and Nellie Hussey, and her brothers, Earl and Larry, Betty's memory will be honoured by all who knew her as a testament to her loving nature and the strong bonds she forged.
Betty's passion for writing was one of her most endearing qualities. She expressed her love through beautifully penned poems and heartfelt letters to her children and grandchildren. Her words were not only a form of communication but also a treasured gift to those who received them.
Travel was another of Betty's joys, allowing her to explore new places and create lasting memories with her loved ones.
Betty's life was a testament to the power of faith, the beauty of family, and the joy of creative expression. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, and her lifelong faith has now become sight.
The family invites friends and relatives to join them at Life Church, 547 Athlone Ave, Woodstock, on Saturday July 13th, 2024 from 11 am until 12:45 where the service will take place in the chapel at 1:00 pm.
