Bernadette (Schurink) Blais

BLAIS, Bernadette -"Bernie" (nee Schurink), 69, of Wasaga Beach (formerly Woodstock and Ingersoll), passed away at Campbell House, Georgian Triangle Hospice in Collingwood on Thursday January 26, 2017. She was born in Winterswijk, Netherlands on August 6, 1947, a daughter of the late John and Aloysia Schurink. She emigrated to Canada in 1953 and moved to Woodstock shortly thereafter. She married the former Gaston Blais of St. Pierre-de-Broughton, Québec in Woodstock in 1969. He predeceased her on March 21, 2013. She is survived by two children, Paul and wife Cara (nee Matthews) of Sydenham and Selena and husband Jason Hicks of Wasaga Beach, three grandchildren, Taryn, Abbey and Autumn, two brothers, Tom (Chris), Joe (Lisa); six sisters, Mientji Averdonk (Bennie), Johanna Fink (Norm Weiland), Agnes O'Sullivan (Tom), Rosa Boomhouwer (Jake), and Marianne Gieber (Andy) and will also be remembered by dozens of in-laws, nieces, nephews and their families in Ontario, Québec, the Netherlands, and elsewhere. She was predeceased by her brothers Bill (Margie) and Benny (Gina); sisters Lies Verberne (Piet) and Gerda Frielink (Hank). Relatives and friends will be received at Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave. Woodstock, ON (519)539-0004 on Sunday January 29th, 2017 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, where the service will be held on Monday January 30th, 2017 at 2 pm. Reception to follow. Internment will be at a later date.
