"Ben" Karimbinkunnil Mathew Benjamin

Interment will take place on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 - 10:30 a.m. at the Jerseyville Cemetery, 141 Field Road Jerseyville, ON.  Following the burial a luncheon will be served at the Jerseyville United Church 17 Field Road, Jerseyville, ON.

Reverend Karimbinkunnil Mathew Benjamin (Ben) passed away peacefully in the early hours of March 23, 2023, in Woodstock, Ontario at the age of 86 after being in palliative care for a little over a week.  Ben came to Canada in 1967 following the call of God to further his theological education at Central Baptist Seminary to prepare for a career as a seminary teacher.  While in Canada he met and married Brenda (nee Fulkerson) and upon completing a Master of Divinity entered pastoral ministry.  Pastor Ben would ultimately go on to minister in churches in Ontario and Quebec and spend seven years as a missionary in Nigeria.  Ben and Brenda retired to Woodstock, Ontario in 2004 where they have been faithful members of Faithway Baptist Church.

Ben is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Brenda.  Proud father of Paul (Joy), Phil (Emily), Peter (Joy).  Cherished grandfather of Nathan, Ethan, Soky, Daliah, Nathan, Vivian, Tyrone, Trevor and Truman.  Dear brother of Deenamma (Sam, deceased), Rosamma (Johnnykutty), John (Shanthi) and Dolly (Roy).  Dear uncle to Laila (Uni) and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  He will be dearly missed by many family members and friends in both Canada and India.  Ben is predeceased by his daughter Marianne Elizabeth and his sister Marykutty.

Visitation will be at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  The family will also receive friends at Faithway Baptist Church on Sunday, March 26 from 2:00pm until the time of the funeral service at 3:00pm in the sanctuary.  The funeral service will be livestreamed for those not able to attend.  After the service there will be a reception.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faithway Baptist Church.
