Basil Nelson Dean

DEAN, Basil Nelson – Passed away at his home on Thursday April 14, 2022, in his 91st year. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Edna (nee Crawford) Dean, his son Ed (Jan) Dean and his daughter Nancy (Frank) VanOstaeyen. Loving grandfather of Rachel Dean, Melanie (Ryan) Ferris, Nicole (Tony) VanOstaeyen-Koot, late Katie VanOstaeyen (2005), Christie VanOstaeyen, Kelsey (Brandon) Ingram and great grandfather to Carter, Brady, Elizabeth, Nolan, Harry, KC, and Kallie. Dear brother of Shirley Stairs. Predeceased by his parents James and Annie (ne Ross) Dean and by his siblings: Ernie, Carl, John, Tom, Bob, Charlie, Laurie, Norman, and Catherine.  Basil worked in the lumber mill industry for many years, drove transport truck for over 10 years and then started Basil Dean and Son Towing Ltd. He had many passions through out his life including his love for the game of golf. Nothing compared to the love he had for his family.  You could always depend on him to be there when you needed him or if you just needed a laugh. A service to honour Basil’s life will be held at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Sunday April 17, 2022, at 1:00 pm with a visitation with the family one hour prior to the service. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery later. If desired, memorial contributions to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Woodstock Hospital would be appreciated.
