It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Barteld (Barry) Joseph Koinoff.

Barry, as he was fondly known, passed away on August 22, 2024 at the age of 63 after a long-fought battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Alba, children Julia and Joseph, his mother Janke and father Stephen Koinoff (Eva Pretty), sister Marianne Alstad (nephew Alexander and niece Olivia), uncle George of Alabama, aunt Mary Ann of Vries Holland and brothers-in-law Dino, Fabio Michelucci (families) of Sarnia. Predeceased by his sister Jody Koinoff, grandparents Velika and Joseph Koinoff of Niagara Falls, and Marie and Barteld Tjassing of Vries Holland.

Barry was a tax consultant and affiliated with BDO in Woodstock.

He cared greatly about his clients and providing them with excellent service.  Doing thorough and quality work to get the best results for his clients is what Barry loved to do.

All who knew Barry enjoyed his unique sense of humor and the countless quick-witted quips which made family, friends and clients laugh.

Generous and caring, he loved visiting his daughter Julia when she studied abroad, golfing with his son Joe and buddies from Craigowan, and visiting his friends from Queen’s University over the numerous “guys weekends” that recharged his batteries.

Barry enjoyed living in Woodstock with the great neighbors that made this his home.

Talking with them and watching the kids play, dance, and sing while he sat in his Muskoka chair, drinking his coffee with his buddy Castor the cat nearby, gave Barry so much happiness.

A service will be held at Brock & Visser in Woodstock on Friday October 4, 2024 at 12:00 p.m., followed by a reception.
