BIRTCH - Surrounded by his family at the Woodstock General Hospital on Wednesday April 15, 2009. "Barney" Frank Nicholas Holtby Birtch of Woodstock in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Marjorie Elizabeth (nee Ross) Birtch for over 61 years. Dear father of Marilyn Oosterveld, Ross Birtch (Laurie Gagnon) all of Woodstock, Jean Smart and her husband Alan of Burlington and Mark Birtch and his wife Karen of Woodstock. Loved grandfather of David Smart (Melissa), Dawn Dykeman (Donald), Steven Oosterveld (Allison Stewart), Ross Birtch (Jenna Piper), Jillyan Birtch, Garrett Birtch and great grandfather of Leah, Zackary, Sonia, Blake and Mason. Dear brother of Amaryllis Ferguson of London, Betty (Bob) Bowman, Lorna (Wes) Hallock all of Woodstock and brother-in-law of Nancy Birtch of Woodstock, Marion Norman, Jean (Mac) Holland, Gwen (Don) Dopp, Madeline Ross and Nancy Ross. Predeceased by his brother Norman Birtch and brothers-in-law Roy Ferguson and Ray Hilderley. Frank was a past employee of the ORC for over 35 years managing the farm and grounds keeping. He was also a longtime member of the Oak Branch Masonic Lodge # 261 A.F. & A.M. for over 56 years. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Sunday April 19, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where the funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday at 1:30 pm with Rev. Stephen Hershey officiating. Interment in the Innerkip Cemetery. Contributions to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
