Barbara Grace Meadows

MEADOWS, Barbara Grace - The family of Barbara Meadows announce her passing very peacefully at her home in her 88th year. Predeceased by her husband Walter (2008) and her daughter Heather Taylor (2017). She leaves behind her son Terry (D.J.), and daughter Gayle (Doug) McCallum. Grandmother to Chris Meadows, Jason (Karma) McCallum, Jen Gowing, Somer Meadows and Justin (Margaret) McCallum. Gramma Florida to Salma, Jannah, Keira and Hani McCallum. Gramma Na Na to Emily, Kaya and Lyndsy Gowing. Gramma No No to Olivia Mather. Gramma to Emma Meadows. Grandma Barbara to Ezra and Seth McCallum. Special great great grandma No No to Charlotte Mathers. Sister to Faith (Brian Lee) and Ron (Gail) Pollock. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters Betty McKay (1994), and Beverley Armstrong (2020) in the days preceding her death she asked many times “how did I get so lucky to have so many people love me?” Our reply to her was that it wasn’t luck but hard work, caring, loving and raising a family. Barbara worked for many years at the Oxford Regional Centre. First on housekeeping and then as resident counsellor. She retired in 1993 and with Walter, became very proud snowbirds, going to Florida every winter until 2007. After Walter’s passing she joined the south gate centre and truly loved her card games and the companionship of her friends. Barbara always had a ready smile, always offered advice on anything even if it wasn’t asked for. We will miss you and never forget you. A private family burial will be taking place at the North Embro Cemetery, and a celebration of life will be held when life returns to normal.
