GRIEVE, Barbara Bernice (Miles) - On Sunday September 27th at the Sakura House in Woodstock, Barbara passed away peacefully from this world, with the same grace and dignity that she has forever shown to all those who were so privileged to be part of her world. With the devotion, support and love of her husband Harold, her daughter Shannon (Neil) and son Jason (Amy). Barbara fought a most courageous and graceful battle against an illness that stole her good health. Her bravery in the face of her illness is witness to the same strength and integrity that she lived throughout her life. Barbara was a Registered Nurse graduating from St Mary's, Kitchener in 1970. Barbara loved her profession, because her nature was to always care for others. Her nursing profession took her to many roles and places in life, as nurse, consultant, expert, supporter and caregiver. In all avenues and positions in her career, she was strong, positive, intelligent, respectful and most importantly, she was always kind. For anyone who had passed through her presence, they were always left with a positive feeling, a kind word, a gentle touch of support, and a warm smile. Her laughter could fill a room and warm your soul. Friends and colleagues sought her company, a place where everyone would be welcomed and treated with respect and dignity. Her family describes her as strong, loyal, devoted, selfless, independent, and the wind beneath their wings. She was devoted to her husband Harold, her children Jason and Shannon and her five grandchildren, Cora, Matthew, Nathan, Owen and Emily. In her home in Thamesford, or at the cottage on the shores of Lake Huron, she loved to be surrounded by her family and friends where her warmth and laughter were always present. Like her flowers, her gardens and her cottage, Barbara wanted to always have the people she loved close to her. We will miss seeing her in her favourite chair at the beach watching just one more sunset sinking into the Lake Huron waters. We will miss her tales of a famous shopping adventure; we will miss helping her hang the hundredth string of Christmas lights; and we will miss thoughts of planting her carloads of spring flowers. But most of all, we will miss the most precious love she gave us as "‘my wife' our mom, and gramma!" Barbara also leaves her sisters, Marion, Loreen and Joan and her brothers Bob and Ken. She is predeceased by her parents, Mark and Frieda and her oldest brother Don. Friends may call on the family on Thursday, October 1st, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9pm pm at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home, Thamesford Chapel, 177 Dundas St. Thamesford, ON (519-285-2427) where the service will be held at on Friday, October 2nd at 11:00am with Father Gilbert Simard officiating.
