McCLINTIC, Arley "Yvonne" (nee Smith)

Yvonne passed away peacefully with family by her side at Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock, on November 22, 2024, at the age of 95. Yvonne was a devoted wife to her husband, Wallace McClintic. Yvonne married Wally in 1947 and missed him dearly after his passing in 1996. Much loved and admired mother of Judith Drouin, Timothy McClintic, and Arley Hodgins-Arts (Joe Arts). Cherished grandmother of Daniel, Bryan, Nathan (Albe), Bethany, Kellen (Carolyn), Lanny (Jaime). Proud great-grandmother of Brynne, Tyler, Louis, Dorian, Quinn and Westley. She will also be missed by many extended family members and friends. Yvonne was predeceased by her sons-in-law, Victor Drouin and Patrick Hodgins, and daughter-in-law, Janice McClintic. She was also the last member of her immediate family, predeceased by her parents, Walter and Arley Smith and brothers, Graham Smith and LeVerne Smith. Yvonne was a long time United Church and UCW member, most recently at St. David's United Church, Woodstock and Tobermory United Church. Up until the last few years, she spent her summers at the family cottage on Shouldice Lake, where she enjoyed planting flowers and going to every activity she could with her Seniors' Groups there. She had so much fun over the years with her Red Hats club and her many friends at Southgate Centre in Woodstock, music and dancing being favourites. Yvonne was able to enjoy many trips with several close friends. If she was sitting still (which wasn't often), Yvonne was quilting or knitting. Grandma made much cherished quilts for each of her Grandchildren. Her family remembers Mom and Grandma as an eternal optimist, always seeing the good in everything and everyone. She was sweet, yet brave and strong, grateful for even the simplest pleasures. We should all strive to live our lives as she did. The family offers heartfelt thanks to Woodingford Lodge and Langdon Retirement Villa for their excellent and compassionate care.

A private family graveside service will be held at Old Log Church Cemetery, Embro. Yvonne grew up on a dairy farm, just up the road from this cemetery, so her life has come full circle. Donations in memory of Yvonne can be made to SickKids Foundation to benefit Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, a cause dear to her heart.
