Archie Saunders

SAUNDERS- Peacefully at Woodstock General Hospital on Thursday, June 5, 2008. Archie E. Saunders of Woodingford Lodge and formerly of Oxford Street, Woodstock in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Vera F. Saunders of over 62 years. Dear father of Nancy Brickwood and her husband Edward of B.C., and Jill Mackay and her husband Barry of Woodstock. Loved grandfather of Bradley (Lorae) Brickwood of B.C, and Scott Brickwood of Alberta; Jason Mackay of Woodstock and Andrea (Ronin) Jong of Toronto. Loved great grandfather of Connor , Logan, Samantha and Vanessa Brickwood. Dear brother of Ena (Bev) Avey of Norwich, Doris (Fred) Griggs), Phyllis (Earl) McGee, Bud (Dona) Saunders, Clifford (Marg) Saunders, Jack (Donna) Saunders all of Woodstock. Dear brother-in-law of Dorothy Saunders, Helen Saunders, Olga Hall, Jack (Donna) McGee and Lila McGee. Also survived by his loving companion Benji. Predeceased by his brothers Jim (Alice) Saunders, Harold Saunders, George (Eileen) Saunders, Fred Saunders, Robert Saunders, William Saunders. Archie was employed with Timberjack, Woodstock for many years, served four years overseas during WW II, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55 Woodstock, member of the Calico Cats Square Dancing Club (36 years), the Swinging Wheels camping group and a member of the Church of the Epiphany (former member of All Saints Anglican). Friends and relatives are invited to the join with the family at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004, on Sunday, June 8, 2008 from 2-4 pm only. The funeral service to celebrate Archie's life will be held in the chapel on Monday at 11:00 am with Rev. Richard Jones of Church of the Epiphany officiating.
