Archie Longworth

LONGWORTH- Peacefully at his residence and surrounded by his loving family on Thursday February 18, 2010. W. Archibald (Archie) Longworth of Caressant Care, Woodstock and formerly of RR # 5 Ingersoll in his 85th year. Beloved husband for over 65 years of Anna Phyllis Longworth (nee Malcolm). Dear father of Bob and his wife Pat of Port Dover, Ron and his wife Dianne, Jim and his wife Diane and Sandra Feick and her husband John all of Woodstock and Cathy Winters and her husband Dave of Kitchener. Loved grandfather of Daryl (Mary), Scott (Heather), Rebecca (Greg), Lisa (Drew), Jennifer (Blake), Larry (Tammy), Jeff, Stacey and Sean. Loved great grandfather of 16 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Pat Provost of Texas. Brother-in-law of Marion Carter of RR#5 Ingersoll, Merle Brenneman and Douglas Hardy both of Woodstock. Also survived by many special nieces and nephews. Predeceased by infant granddaughters Angela and Amy Feick, Sister Annie Hardy, sister-in-law Luella Malcolm and brothers-in-law Fred Buchanan, Verne Carter, Russell Malcolm, Archie Brenneman and Larry Provost. Friends may call at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Sunday February 21, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where the complete funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday at 1:30 pm with Rev. David VanPatter and Rev. Kent Garrett officiating. Archie served overseas during WW II with the R.C.A.F. He served on West Oxford Township Council from 1968 to 1972 and on Oxford County Council from 1989 to 1991. He was a longtime member of The Independent Order of Forresters #1147, The Royal Canadian Legion Br.# 495 Beachville, and a lifelong member of the Sweaburg United Church. Interment later in the Harris Street Cemetery, Ingersoll following cremation. Contributions to the Sweaburg United Church or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
