SLOAN- Ann Sloan (McQueen). After a life filled with peace, love and joy, our amazing "Mum," in her 69th year, left our world on Sunday December 21st 2014, leaving her strong spirit and energy remaining with everyone she touched. Heartbroken by her loss are her children Nicola Sloan Clarke (Ian Warnock), Paula Sloan (Charlie Webb) and Michael Sloan (Tommasina Conte). Loved to pieces by her grandchildren Ben, Meredith, Annabel, Georgia, Liam, Kayle, Madeleine, Lauren and Nolan. She is survived by her sisters Margaret McHale and Maeve Maher. Predeceased by her devoted husband Douglas Bender (2013) and her wonderful husband David Sloan (1992). Ann is loved and missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws in Canada and England. Born in Liverpool, England, July 7, 1946, Ann was the youngest child to Malcolm and May McQueen. She emigrated from England to Woodstock, Ontario, in 1967, where she began a career in social work until she retired in 2001. This gave her time to enjoy her many passions, especially travel, gardening, Reiki, yoga and cherishing time with family. Ann was always open to life's experiences and adventures. Friends and relatives are invited to join us at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock, (519-539-0004) on Sunday December 28th 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where a celebration of Ann's life will be held in the chapel on Monday December 29th 2014 at 2:00 pm with Lloyd Bennett officiating. Reception to follow at Unifor Hall (CAW Hall). Cremation has taken place. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Sakura House and Ingamo Homes in Woodstock.
