ECKERT - Gone to be with his Lord, at the Woodstock General Hospital on Tuesday, February 5, 2008. Alvin T. Eckert of Woodstock in his 73rd year. Beloved husband of Clara H. (nee Henning) Eckert for over 52 years. Dear father of Debbie Lee Goetz and her husband Jerome of Linwood, Beverly Eckert (Tim MacDonald) of Woodstock, Melodie MacDonald (Steve) of RR# 5, Woodstock, Shelley Mattson (Greg Woodford) and Sharey Eckert (Tim McKellar) all of Woodstock. Loved grandfather of Brandon, Mark, Derek, Tera, Dena, Zachary, Rachel and Emely. Dear brother of Rita Guil, Donald (Sheila), Gerald (Dorothy), Annette Meyer, Brian (Donna) all of Kitchener, and brother-in-law of Mitzie Eckert of Petersburg and Pat Armstrong (Carl) of Listowel. Predeceased by his sons Gregory and Jeffrey, parents Edward and Matilda (nee Gutscher) Eckert, son-in-law Kevin Mattson, sister Florence Davidson, brothers Bruce and David and brothers-in-law Harold Meyer and John Guil. Alvin was a man with a "green thumb", his ability to grow and nurture plants was simply amazing. He loved animals of all sizes, from birds, dogs, cats and fish. He was an avid stamp collector and had a broad interest in all music. Friends may call at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, (519-539-0004) on Friday February 8, 2008 after 12:00 pm, where the funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday at 1:30 pm with Rev.
