Alva Walter (Joe) Murray

MURRAY - At the Woodstock General Hospital on Saturday November 8, 2003. A. W. "Joe" Murray of Powell St., Woodstock in his 74th year passed away. Beloved husband of the late Betty J. Murray (nee Shellington) (1994). Dear father of Barbara "Babs" Elaine Murray and Kathie and Wayne Brett all of Woodstock. Loved grandfather of Ian, Jennifer, Brandon and Angel Murray, Raymond and Mark Alles. Loved great grandfather of Rebecca. Dear brother of Laurie Murray of Beachville. Will always be remembered by his nephew; Tommy Murray, nieces; Joanne Murray and Judy Palmer and her husband Roger and great nephews Adam and Matthew and great niece Jessica. Predeceased by his son Stephen Wayne Murray (2003). Dearest friend of Dean Smith, Noel Aaron, Dan Tuck, Ken McKenzie, Kevin Goodall, Tammy Lavoie and children Chelsea, Cameron and many, many others. Dear neighbour to all longtime residents of Powell Street. Joe was a past Union President of Beachvillime for over 23 years and had been a coach for minor ball and minor hockey during the 70's. A memorial service in memory of Joe will be held at the City Harvest Church, 547 Athalone Dr., Woodstock on Friday November 14, 2003 at 10:00 am with Pastor Steve McLaughlin officiating followed by interment at Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery. A reception to follow interment at City Harvest Church. Contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory of Betty and Joe would be appreciated and may be arranged through the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, Woodstock, 539-0004. Floral arrangements may be delivered to City Harvest Church.
