Allan Major Garner
January 15, 1919 — August 19, 2004
GARNER- Peacefully with family at his side at Woodstock Private Hospital on Thursday August 19, 2004. Allan M. Garner formerly of Roselawn Ave. Woodstock in his 86th year. Beloved husband of 57 years to Betty Garner (nee Stevens). Dearly loved father of Marie Pierce and Terry of Burlington, Bruce Garner and Jill of Goderich, Jeanne Bender and Wally of Tavistock, Mark Garner and Kimberley of Sudbury. Loved grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Helen Lumb of Toronto. Predeceased by his siblings Mabel (Jack) Bowie, Betty, Russell (Audrey), Fred (Grace), Ernie (Alice) and Dorothy Garner. Allan was a longtime member of College Avenue United Church and served with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corp.(5th Field Ambulance) in Italy and Sicily campaigns. Friends may call at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home 845 Devonshire Ave. Woodstock (539-0004) Friday 2:30 -4:30 & 7-9 pm where the funeral service will be held in the chapel Saturday at 10:30 am with Rev. David Duncan officiating. Interment Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery. Contributions to the Alzheimer Society or College Avenue United Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
