POST- Alice Jane (Lupton)- Passed away at her home in Hamilton on Sunday March 23rd 2014. Alice was the only daughter of the late Ralph and Jennie Lupton. She was predeceased by her only brother Bruce, in January 2001. Alice was the beloved friend of Vince Tierney. She was born and raised on a farm in Oxford County and attended school at a very early age. She attended Stratford Collegiate, Stratford Teachers' College and the University of Western Ontario. Alice worked for the Thames Valley Board for 37 years and retired in 1990. She was a practice teacher for Western students for most of her career and was chosen by the Ministry of Education to teach summer school for teachers in North Bay, Sudbury and Timmins during the summers. An accomplished pianist, she directed school choirs in the schools where she taught and played for many local weddings. Active in the Junior Farmers Organization, she was on the first place winning Ontario team in square dancing at Guelph. She was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 30 years. Her many hobbies included ordinary dancing, step and tap dancing, calling for square dances, curling, playing softball, landscaping and renovating homes. After moving to Hamilton, she joined many Senior Centres: the New Horizons, Warden Park, Club 60, Rosedale, Winona, Grimsby and Smithville. Playing cards was her favourite pastime. The last remaining member of her family, she is survived by a multitude of cousins. As per Alice's wishes there will be no visitation with interment in the Knox Presbyterian Cemetery in Harrington taking place at a later date.
