Alice E. (Smith) Burton

BURTON, Alice E. - Peacefully at Caressant Care Nursing Home in her 96th year. Alice E. Burton (nee Smith). Predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years W.G. (Sam) Burton, by her twin brother Arthur Smith, brother Aubrey Smith and sister Dorothy Smith. Dear mother of Patricia (Patty) Burton of Toronto and Walter J. (Walt) Burton and his wife Margaret of Vernon, BC. Cherished grandma to their two daughters, Hannah and Emily. Will be fondly remembered by niece and nephews of the Twose and McRae clans and their large extended families in Niagara Falls and thereabouts, and by niece Carolyn (Smith) Murphy and family of Dublin, Ireland. Alice was a life member of the United Church of Canada and of the Thames Valley Chapter, Eastern Star. She and Sam were participants for many years in Learning Unlimited Special thanks to Jane and Lindsay Raffin of Senior Solutions for all the years of wonderful visits and care, and to the staff at Caressant Care Nursing Home who made her last years comfortable and peaceful. Friends may call at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Sunday March 14, 2010 from 2-4 pm. The complete funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday at 1:30 pm with Rev. Judith Gilliland officiating. Interment later in the Innerkip Cemetery.
