Alfred Smart

SMART Alfred William - Passed away surrounded by the love of family at Caressant Care Nursing Home on October 6, 2015 in his 98th year. Beloved husband of the late Jean Smart (nee Odell) ( 2010). Loving father of David (Jennifer) Smart and Nancy Nutt. Alfred will be missed by his grandchildren Paul (Kathleen) Nutt, Rachael (Derrick) Fleming and his great-grandchildren. Survived by his sister-in-law Agnes Smart, as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son-in-law Douglas Nutt (2014) and siblings Phyllis (Howard) Maskell, Muriel (Ernest) Hildson, Anne (Don) Murray, James Smart, Glen Smart, Robert (Marg) Smart and Fred (Lillian) Smart. Alfred was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55, the Elgin Veterans Association and served overseas with the Canadian Armoured Corp. 4th Division H.Q.. Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., (519-539-0004) on Friday October 9, 2015 from 6-8pm, where the service officiated by Reverend Bonnie Pilkey, will be held on Saturday October 10, 2015 at 11:00am. Interment at Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Woodstock Hospital or the charity of one's choice would be appreciated and may be arranged through the funeral home.
