Albert Knights

July 22, 1935 — October 30, 2021

KNIGHTS, Albert -Passed away peacefully at Woodstock Hospital on Saturday, October 30th, 2021, in his 87th year, with his family at his side. Loved father of Kim (Rodger), Heather (Joel), Peter, and Lesley (Seamus). Proud grandfather of Katherine (Nathan), Taylor (Kelsey), Michael, Jason (Sarah), Quentin, Janalynn, and great-grandfather of four. Dear brother to George.  Albert will be deeply missed by family and friends both here and in the UK especially Lori Smith and Julie Knights.  He goes to join his beloved wife, Patricia, daughter Alison, and grandson John.

Albert's national service in the Royal Navy, as a submariner, was the beginning of his lifelong interest in everything Navy. He spent his later years reminiscing about Navy life, and belonged to the local Navy Club, and the Royal Navy Submarine Association. After immigrating to Canada, he worked for many years as a butcher, and then as a meat inspector until his retirement. Albert loved to socialize and was a great storyteller. He was well known for donating his time and culinary skills with his travelling barbecue, for playing the role of Santa for many organizations and until declining health prevented him from doing so, selling hundreds of poppies.

Albert's carpentry skills and his love of gardening resulted in several home redesigns and even a sailboat. In his retirement, along with his endless pursuit of the squirrel proof birdhouse, he loved to make meticulously crafted models of boats and planes and read through his extensive collection of naval history books.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff of the Transitional Care Unit, Woodingford Lodge and the Woodstock General Hospital for their care and compassion.
