Albert Bilstra

 Albert passed away at home, surrounded by family on January 20, 2025 at the age of 83. Beloved husband and best friend to Mary (nee Hayden), with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Proud father of Tim Bilstra and Mark Bilstra (Maria), Grandpa of Ashley (Estabon), Bethany (Andrew), Noah and Joel and Great-Grandpa of Maylynn and Dominic. Dear brother of Nellie Clayton (Gary). 

At 9 years of age, Albert came to Canada with his family. He met and married the love of his life, Mary, when he was 25 and together they settled down in their rural home near Thamesford, eventually moving to London. Albert worked as a psychiatric nurse at hospitals in Palmerston and London. One of his favorite jobs was a school-bus driver – he could be counted on to tell a good joke and he was fondly remembered by students who rode his bus long after his retirement. He was compassionate man of deep faith. He was a pastor at several local churches throughout his life, and would speak at area Dutch Reformed churches or anywhere he was asked to share the message. He cared greatly for people and had a wonderful sense of humour. He will be greatly missed.
