Born February 25, 1943 in Tallinn, Estonia, Ain Isotamm passed away peacefully on November 14, 2023, at University Hospital, London, surrounded by family.
He is survived by Lii, his loving wife of fifty-four years, daughters Kristiina (Tom) and Linda, grandsons Jakob and Mik, as well as by his brother Tom (Norma), sisters-in-law Vicki, Evy (Arvi) and Larysa, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Rein (d.1950), parents Harald and Vanda, sister-in-law Linda, and brothers-in-law Lawrence and Ed.
Avid reader, animal lover, and landlocked sailor, Ain had an insatiable thirst for knowledge about anything and everything. Ryerson satisfied his love of chemistry, leading him to research and quality control labs at Uniroyal, Flintcote, and the City of Kitchener, where he became a Senior Buyer before returning to the open fields and his roots as a dairy farmer, this time in Drumbo.
Our ‘mighty oak’ was felled suddenly by Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). Those wishing to support research into this rare neurodegenerative disorder may do so through donation to the Centre for Prions Activities at the University of Alberta uabgive.ca/prions. Ain can also be remembered by supporting the charity of your choice.
