BAKKER, Aart - It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Aart Bakker on July 23rd, 2022 at Woodstock General Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
He will forever be in the hearts of his children Melissa (Ryksen) and her husband Kevin, Travis and his wife Shannon, Jordan and his wife Sheryl. He will be dearly missed by his beloved grandchildren Hannah, Kaitlyn, Taya, Cameron, Lucas, Jacob and Colton. Fondly remembered by his extended family, loved ones and friends. Now reunited with his Father Tjeed and Mother Aaltje.
Aart was born and raised in ThunderBay, Ontario where he operated a dairy farm with his parents. In 1991 he moved to Woodstock, Ontario where he operated a dairy farm with his family. Later in life he started trucking, often hauling livestock and traveling around the United States and Canada, enjoying the freedom of the road. He loved all animals, and had a passion for horses and cows! He saw the potential in old buildings and worked hard to make them his own!
The visitation will be held at Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Wednesday, July 27th, 2022, from 6 pm to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 735 Frontenac Cres. Woodstock, on Thursday July 28th, 2022, at 11:00 am with the burial to follow at Hillview Cemetery.
The Bakker family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the Palliative Care team at the Woodstock Hospital for their professional and compassionate care shown to both Aart and his family.
