Steven Robert Bishop, known affectionately to friends and family as Steve, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2023, at his home in Woodstock, Ontario. Born on June 19, 1965, in Etobicoke, Ontario, Steve was a cherished son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

Steve was a devoted family man, who is survived by his loving wife Cheryl, his children Kurtis, and stepchildren Ashley (Jacob), Jonathon and Joseph. He was overjoyed by his role as a grandfather to Mathias and Destiny, who brought so much joy and laughter into his life. He was predeceased by his father, Tony, and his brother, Tony, but is survived by his mother Joan, and his sister Rose. His extended family included his mother-in-law Sharon McArthur and sister-in-law Michelle, and brother-in-law Dan, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Steve will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

A hardworking man, Steve was a truck driver for 25 years, a profession he took great pride in. His dedicated work ethic was an inspiration to his family and all who knew him. He was a dependable and respected member of his profession, known for his reliability and his kindness.

In his leisure time, Steve was an avid hockey fan. He could often be found cheering on his favorite team, his enthusiasm and passion for the sport infectious to everyone around him. He was also a dedicated train collector, an interest that reflected his appreciation for history and his meticulous nature. Steve was known for his love of food, always eager to try a new restaurant or recipe. He had a life long love for his cats which brough him much joy and he was often called “Catman Steve”. His other interests included pool and darts, and he was a familiar face at local tournaments, his competitive spirit and friendly nature making him a favorite among his peers.

Steve was best described by those who knew him as kind. His kindness extended to everyone he met, from his family and friends to strangers he encountered in his daily life. He had a way of making everyone feel special and valued, his warmth and generosity of spirit leaving a lasting impact on those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Steve will be remembered not only for his dedication to his work and his love for his hobbies but also for his deep love for his family. His home was filled with laughter and love, and he took great joy in the happiness of his loved ones. His absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

In the wake of Steve's passing, we remember a man who was not only kind but also full of life and love. He touched the lives of many with his warm heart and generous spirit. His legacy will live on in his family and in all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Steve's life is being held on Saturday, September 16th, 2023, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock.
