Lucas Jordan Wentzell (known as Luke to those closest to him) a PhD student at the University of Windsor, has passed away at the age of 31 on Sunday, July 19, 2020.
Lucas is survived by his mother, Nanci; his father, Brian; two sisters, Tara and Megan; a brother-in-law, Mitchell; and two nieces, Heidi and Eliza.
Lucas was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on March 24, 1989, to Nanci Lord and Brian Wentzell. He graduated from the University of Windsor with a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy in 2012 and a MA in 2015. Lucas was a line worker during his summer breaks at the Michelin Plant in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. He was a valued team member there and a respected student at UWindsor.
Lucas was an extraordinary guitarist and had a love of music and writing. Lucas shared his musical talent by performing locally in Windsor as a lead guitarist and bandmate of East Grand. Additionally, Lucas was vastly intelligent and knowledgeable in many areas He was always actively growing his knowledge base and pursuing his passion for learning through many years of university. Lucas was looked upon as an intellect among his peers and a prodigy by his advisors. For those who knew Lucas, his fondness for cats was an important part of his life as they provided him with company and comfort. Lucas was raised in a Christian home and carried his faith with him throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.

Lucas will be laid to rest in Beach Meadows, Nova Scotia, where his life will be honoured and celebrated by his family.
